Façade of the Church of the Assumption    The Church of  the Assumption of Mary is in the hamlet of Lupia.

Mons. Perbenedetti laid the foundation stone on September 17, 1580.

About 30 years later, the church was completed and consecrated on May 2,Painting of the Madonna 1610 by Bishop Mons. Monaco.

This church, erected on the remains of a former house of worship damaged by the 1638 earthquake, was built thanks to the generous donations of the residents of Lupia.

Bishop Gianjacopo Palemonio, who lived in Scigliano Fresco of the Madonnauntil his death in 1962 and is buried in the Church of the Assumption, had 2 archiepiscopal dwellings built in the town.

One in Diano, another in Lupia.

Palemonio was also an inexhaustible writer who had many of his works published here by 2 expert printers called in from Rome.

Today, the Church of the Assumption of Mary is being renovated by the Superintendent of the Arts.
